Program Overview

Two members of the Clean Water Corps are currently working in Turkey to distribute 100 water filters over the next week. They are targeting some of the hardest hit areas from the recent earthquakes. Many people are still living in makeshift camps without access to consistent, clean drinking water and there are emerging reports of Cholera throughout Antakya, one of the hardest hit regions along the border of Syria. This team is meeting with numerous charities and community organizations in Turkey to assess the current and future need for clean drinking water and are initially focused on Antakya, Gaziantep and Malatya for training and distribution of filters.

Following the week in Turkey, the Clean Water Corps team will travel to Erbil, Iraq to meet with U.S. military special operations teams to plan a future distribution into Northeastern Syria. These teams are focused on alleviating water insecurity in large population centers that were experiencing drought and other hardships over the past decade of war.

This team is the first phase of our response to this catastrophic event. We will continue to expand our impact as we identify populations and areas that are in need both in Turkey and Syria.
