Program Overview
Last June 5, A phreatic eruption occurred at Mt. Bulusan, Sorsogon that lasted around 17 minutes. Alert Level 1, indicating that it is currently in abnormal conditions, was raised over volcano according to Phivolcs.
Relief operations are currently underway for affected residents, with drinking water identified as one of the most immediate needs. Clean water supply becomes vulnerable during and after a volcanic ash fall, which can cause changes to water quality and create high water demand for clearing operations—that can in turn lead to water shortage.
