Safe Drinking Water for Puerto Rico

Fundraiser Overview

Dear Family & Friends,

We’ve all been seeing the heartbreak in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated the island. Right now, the need is overwhelming. So many communities are desperate and have been fending for themselves for basic necessities to survive. People all over the island are isolated and have limited access to clean drinking water. Many low-income families who are without access to bottled water are drawing water from open/leaking pipes from local cisterns and streams/creeks/rivers. Much of this water risks contamination due to the trash, raw sewage and mold building up along the streets.

When I learned about Waves for Water, I was immediately drawn to their heartfelt mission and the hands-on work they do to help people in need of clean water all over the world. Since Hurricane Maria hit, Waves for Water team members have been on the ground in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands. They have been providing and implementing portable water filtration systems to people living in areas with limited relief efforts for highest impact. 100+ filters put into action so far!

I feel very passionate about this clean water initiative, and I believe in the goals of this non-governmental organization. I hope you will too! If you are able to support my special cause, please donate through the link located at the side or very bottom of my fundraising page. I have requested that all of my funds raised go directly to Puerto Rico relief efforts. Each individual water filter is made in the USA and costs $50, so every single donation will help to achieve my goal. I have inserted pictures above and if you have time, please check out the Waves to Water overview video: https://vimeo.com/158987022. I’m also happy to answer any questions. Maybe one day, I will be a courier and deliver water filters myself!

Thank you for your kindness & support. xxoo

Liz
