On January 5, 2013 Freezin For A Reason: a 5.7 mile paddleboard/ sup race, and 2.5 mile Recreation paddle around Ventnor Heights and Chelsea Heights in Ventnor, NJ will occur. All of the proceeds of the event will go to Waves 4 Water's Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. It will cost people $30 to enter the race which will also get them a wrist band to the after party at Tomatoes in Margate, NJ. The race is out of Viking Rowing Club on Surrey and Calvert Ave in Ventnor, NJ. Sign Ups start at 10:00 the race will begin at 11:00. After Party begins at 2:00 and goes until 5:00, $20 to enter if you are not a racer. There will be great food, music, and a cash bar.
This may seem like a crazy idea paddling in the dead of winter in NJ with the possibility of freezing temperatures, but there are still a large amount of people in NJ and NY without heat in there homes.
Please if you can not attend donate what you can to the cause.
