Project Overview

Major parts of Thar Desert fall in Tharparkar and Umerkot Districts. The area is arid and semi-arid, recurring droughts, quality and access to water are among major problems of area. Tharparkar is the largest district spread over an area of 47, 91,025 acres (19,637 sq kms) and population is about 1.4 million souls. Majority of inhabitants depend on rain fed agriculture and livestock. Umarkot is the gate way to Thar Desert. It exists at the border of barrage and arid region. It lies in the southeastern part of Sindh. It has a human population of 0.7 million. The majority of the inhabitants (70 %) of this area is dependent on agriculture. Agriculture is lifeline for the people and water is a rock/foundation on which it is based. Since last couple of years, this sector is subject to vagaries of weather and facing consistent water shortage. Apart from natural calamities and disasters, manmade water shortage, constraints imposed by policy makers who are mostly tied with the MNCs/Donors aprons, removal of subsidies by Government and withdrawal of other incentives have added up to the sorry state of this sector. Sindh in general and this region in particular is rich in wind, biomass and solar energy opportunities. Hence, the need of time is to develop, introduce & implement the wind, biomass and solar energies based technologies in this area for development; and to develop the physical ways and means through human capital to restructure the agriculture system and empower the primary stakeholders and devise multidimensional planning for the development of community. Mismanagement of resources and ineffective policies result in shape of social exclusion, gender imbalances and increasing poverty. So there was need of such organization which can play active role in organizing communities and empower the marginalized sectors of society. This was realized by me, because when I was child then my dear father was passed away in this world the year was 2005, where I learned my education which school name is Government High School Haji Muhammad Baig Jakhro. Geography: Village Haji Muhammad Baig Jakhro oldest village of the area , almost 8 kilometer on the distance from Umerkot, Sindh Pakistan, situated boundary of desert area of tharparker, village is located on the left side of the main Kunri road , as used as main stop for the villagers , they purchased their house hold items which are usage in their daily life. Village is consist of 370 households having Six communities like Jakhro, Kohil, Kunbher, Oud, Bheel and Nuhri are surrounding of the village. Customs and Traditions: Mostly community is living in the village on common family system, there is no any difference with families which are living in the hamlets, and they meet with each other on the special events without any restriction. Parda System in the women they always close their face in front of their in laws , married women wearing full bangles on their arms , if any organization conducted any training or session they participated without any hesitation , women ratio is more than women and their actively participate in the session. Schools: Village owner late Haji Muhammad Baig Jakhro Have constructed a school in 1980 his own bases (self-help concept) namely Govt: boys & girls middle school haji Muhammad Baig Jakhro That later became a High School working good condition, since from 1980 Mr. Baig Jakhro helps Children's books, clothes poverty reduction and also provide food, In this example does not anywhere the whole area and everyone said Mr. Jakhro is the great man today our children are educated the credit goes to Mr. Jakhro, now in this time three schools shown: 1. Govt. High School (Enrollment 821 Boys and Girls), 2. Govt. Boys Primary School (Enrollment 277 Boys), 3. Govt. Girls Primary School (Enrollment 146 Girls), Total enrollment of three schools 944 boys and girls come from different UCs but there are lot of issues regarding water, if there is no water children ill day by day they don’t use washrooms because there no found of water, especially in case of females. I Have plan for school RO plant which children reach easily to safe drinking water especially little children and females, this RO plant not support only school children but support to all village and this is very big achievement and countable efforts.
